KITCHENER MALE CHARGED WITH OVER 80 MGS

(WOOLWICH TOWNSHIP, ON) On February 4, 2017 at approximately 4:07 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a 2001 Subaru that was travelling northbound on the Guelph-Woolwich Townline in Woolwich Township.

While speaking with the driver, officers detected the odour of alcohol on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

20-year-old Harrison PERIA of Kitchener has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on March 3, 2017 to answer to the charge.

MARIJUANA SEIZED AT R.I.D.E. CHECK

(PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP, ON) On February 4, 2017 at approximately 8:15 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Gore Road near Townline Road in Puslinch Township.

Officers investigated the three male occupants of a 2013 Toyota that entered into the checkpoint. Officers immediately detected the strong odour of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Investigation revealed that all three males were in possession of marijuana and were arrested and charged accordingly.

21-year-old Jessie GREENWOOD, 22-year-old Daniel SOOKNANDAN and 21-year-old Julio Cesar VASQUEZ all of Cambridge, all have been charged with one count of Possession of Marijuana Under 30 Grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Greenwood will appear in Guelph Criminal Court on March 14, 2017 and Sooknandan and Vasquez will appear in court on March 17, 2017 to answer to their charges.

RACING CHARGE

(PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP, ON) On February 4, 2017 at approximately 7:01 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar and monitoring traffic on Arkell road near Watson Road in Puslinch Township.

The officer observed an eastbound 2004 Infiniti travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 133 km/h in a 70 km/h zone.

18-year-old Ian TOMAS of Guelph has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on March 15, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.
