(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) - On March 1, 2017 at approximately 11:00 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officer stopped a 1999 Chevrolet pickup on Wellington Road 39, Guelph-Eramosa Township. The officer discovered suspected marijuana in the vehicle and the male driver was arrested and released at the scene.

21-year-old Jacob WATTERS of Elora has been charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on April 7, 2017.



(GUELPH/ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) - On March 5, 2017 at approximately 1:36 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 7 near Wellington Road 32 in Guelph/Eramosa Township. The officer observed a male driving a 2003 Audi at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 123 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

A 17-year-old male of Kitchener has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on May 3, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.



(PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP, ON) - On March 5, 2017, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a motorist passing by regarding a structure fire at a vacant building located on Queen Street in Morriston.

Puslinch Fire and Rescue Services, Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department, Guelph Fire Department, and the Hamilton Fire Department attended the scene and the cause at this time is unknown. This incident is being investigated by the Wellington County OPP, OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU), Puslinch Fire and Rescue Services and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall Emergency Management.

Criminal Investigators from Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Region Criminal Operations, Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU) and the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) are investigating the fire as arson and have reason to believe that the fire was set deliberately.
