South Wellington OPP Reports - Mar. 13, 2017

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) - On March 9, 2017 at approximately 9:51 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Mill Street in the Town of Erin, County of Wellington.

Police arrived at the scene and spoke with the male driver. While speaking with the driver officers detected the strong odour of alcohol on his breath and noted physical signs of possible impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

53-year-old Daniel GALLANT of ERIN has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on April 11, 2017 to answer to his charges.

His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.



(GUELPH-ERMAOSA TWP., ON) - On March 10, 2017 at approximately 9:15 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded along with Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department, Guelph Fire Department, Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Wellington County Roads to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 44, Guelph-Eramosa Twp., County of Wellington. A full size Tanker and Trailer had reportedly rolled over the embankment.

The driver of the truck was trapped and suffered serious injuries. He was transported by land ambulance to a local hospital.

The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by the Wellington County OPP Technical Collision Investigators. Wellington Road 44 will be closed between Hwy. 7 and Indian Trail for several hours.

(GUELPH/ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) - On March 6, 2017 the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft of multiple tractor keys. They were stolen from a business, Connect Equipment, located on third line in Guelph/Eramosa Township near the Village of Rockwood. The theft occurred sometime between February 28, 2017 and March 2, 2017.

The keys were master level Kubota and Coyote brands, allowing access to multiple brands and platforms of tractors.

On March 8, 2017 the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a second report of a theft at the business located on the third line in Guelph/Eramosa Township.

Owners of the business reported unknown suspect(s) stole a sub-compact Massey Ferguson Tractor CG17052, red in colour. The theft occurred just before 1:00 a.m. on the morning of March 7, 2017.
