South Wellington OPP Reports - July 13, 2017

RACING CHARGES

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) - On July 11, 2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County Road 124 near Third Line, Township of Guelph-Eramosa. The officer observed a male driving a black Volkswagen Jetta travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 112 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

39-year-old Andrew CARRABS of Hamilton has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on August 16, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On July 11, 2017 at approximately 10:15 p.m. a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County Road 39 near Silvercreek Parkway. The officer observed a male driving a 2011 Chevrolet CEO travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 102 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

36-year-old Patrick FORSTER of Fergus has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

DRUNK DRIVER ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) - On Wednesday July 12, 2017 at approximately 1:00 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a male asleep behind the wheel of a Dodge Caravan on Queen Street, near highway 401, Morriston.

OPP officers awoke the driver and while speaking with him formed the opinion that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

40-year-old Michael Albert OAKLEY of Guelph has been charged with Care or Control of Motor Vehicle While Impaired and with Care or Control of Motor Vehicle while Over 80 mgs alcohol /100 mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Aug 11, 2017.
