DRIVER CHARGED WITH OVER 80

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) - On August 19, 2017 at approximately 12:55 a.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a motor vehicle travelling eastbound on County Road 124 at County Road 29, Guelph-Eramosa.

The motor vehicle was observed to be swerving within the lane before swerving abruptly to the shoulder at which time the officer conducted a traffic stop.

While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of alcohol consumption. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

56-year-old Alexander THEMELIS of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 29, 2017 to answer to the charge.

COLLISION BETWEEN ATV AND CHILD ON POCKET BIKE

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) - On August 26, 2017 approximately 6:00 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue responded to collision involving a child operating a pocket bike and an adult male operating an ATV. The collision occurred on private property at an address on Sideroad 30, Township of Guelph-Eramosa.

Investigation revealed that the child was operating the pocket bike and exited a private trail and ran into a family member operating an ATV. This all occurred on private property.

The seven-year-old boy suffered minor injuries and was transported by Guelph-Wellington EMS to a local hospital. The operator of the ATV was not injured. Both parties were wearing appropriate safety equipment.

OPP INVESTIGATING FATALITY ON THE WATER

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) - At approximately 11:10 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an unoccupied boat on Puslinch Lake across from the McClintock Marina, Township of Puslinch.

OPP and Cambridge Fire attended and located a boat in the water with nobody in it.

As units responded to assist in searching the area a passing motorist advised of seeing a body floating in the water. The body was located and recovered.

The investigation into this will continue and more updates will be provided as they become available.
